Flue faq's

Why do need to line my chimney?

Every installation is different so it it is important to let a qualified Hetas engineer check this for you .Click here to find a list if installers near you.

Does it need to be insulated?

If it is a particulary cold chimney then insulation will help keep the flue gases warm and improve the draw.

I have a gas liner installed now, can I use that?

No, you can only only use a gas liner for a gas appliance.

How long will the liner last?

If the correct fuel is used and the flue swept reguarly the liner should last 10 to 15 years.

What size flue do I need?

Most stoves are 5 or 6 inch, however some can be 7 or 8.

Does the flue need to be swept?

The flue should be swept at least once a year.

I have no chimney, can I still have a woodburner?

An insulated chimney can be fitted, either up through the inside of your house or on the outside,click here for more details.

Do I need a cowl?

Cowls should be fitted to prevent rain, also birdguards will prevent debris in the flue.
